Late yesterday a strong and somewhat dangerous storm cell moved into Hawaiian Islands. As a result our Ship Captain decided to bypass Hilo. Hilo is the island with spectacular volcanic activity. We had booked a all day tour to the volcano. One of the highlights of our trip we believed. So we are a little sad at missing out, but it opens the door to another Hawaiian trip in the near future perhaps.
This morning we woke to sitting off the seaward side of Maui. The ship has circumnavigated the Island overnight.
An additional unscheduled stop due to medical emergency with one of the passengers. Later once the ship retrieves its tender and we believe passenger we will continue out to sea again.
Melissa ventured on deck to take photos of recovery and the Island of Maui from the sea.
The island of Maui slowly left behind as ship u-turns back to sea.
A very relaxed day of book reading to the sounds of the ocean going by.
We enjoyed a stroll around the ship watching the waves and the wake of the ship. Our fellow passengers spread out across the ship, some enjoying the sun (when frankly they probably shouldn’t, as the sun is quite strong). Others enjoying at the various ship based entertainments and shows, while more munch their way through the numerous food outlets. We have taken to climbing the stairs rather than the lifts to combat the side effects of the plentiful varieties of food.
Tonight we do trivia, Australian trivia so we should have some chance. No mobile coverage so just old fashion brains in action. A fairer fight. After trivia we will attend “the Liberty” restaurant - formal attire.
We won with the help of a Brisbane family.😁
After “the Liberty” we lapped the ship to walk off dinner in the Pacific moonlight.
After a stroll, we settled in at “Pinks Bar” for some live piano music.
Today was unusual, as we had a slow day of doing little in the sun. Tomorrow we take a ship’s tender ashore to the Island of Kona, which known for its coffee.
