Hawaii Day 10 - Island of Kaua’i day 2 - The Flight

Alhoa!

Today we enjoy an flight around the Island of Kaua’i by light airplane (6 seater). If it is anything like our NZ charter 2 years ago, it will be fantastic.

We walked ashore to wait for our pickup and took some time to take some Anchor Cove photos.

First hiccup for the morning, our pickup could accommodate 7 passengers in the mini-van but 8 waiting. Cos stayed behind to be picked up in second run. Our flight is 10am on a small 6 seater so hopefully we will get what we purchased.

As it turns out the 4 Germans that bumped Cos shouldn’t have been pickup. 😕 hmm. Oh well it will still work...I hope. Plenty of time yet. Cos gets to watch wild chickens while he waits.

The apologic driver collected Cos after only 5 minutes of chicken watching. Pretty drive while Melissa and Jacqueline waited.

Jacqs becomes co-pilot. Again 😁

Our real pilot was gunho 26 year old who had been flying for 8 years. She was one of the best pilots I’ve ever flown with.

After being about not touching ANYTHING as it was all live we set out.

At first we flew out over the Island and followed the coast.

We then turned inland to visit the mountains and canyon.

We saw the look out from previous day.

Passing along Waimea Canyon we flew on to the west coast of the island.

Then once again turned inland to head back.

And sadly our 70 minutes of flight came to an end.

It was a great flight.

Back to reality, we had to return to the ship for departure back to Honolulu tomorrow.

Shortly after arrival on ship, we departed our last port😢. We enjoyed lunch on the Portside Cadillac Diner as the harbour tugs pushed us out.

In the late afternoon the ship passed Napali Coast that saw from the sky in the morning. Glad we saw it from the air this as the view from the ship through a misty cloud in the late afternoon sun was a little underwheming after our beautiful clear flying conditions this morning.

The sunset was perfect.

Just finished our last tea at East Meets West a predominately included restaurant with a few choices for extra cost.  Food exceeded expectations in taste and quantity.  Able to order as much as you like. Service was fantastic with waiters willing to have a chat and a laugh.  One even wondering why Jacqueline was still eating Chinese after working in a Chinese restaurant🤔
