The Swiss are a very friendly people. Everything is very clean, traffic and people seem to flow around trams in the streets. No crime we can see. The young teenagers are well behaved and friendly. No indication of "Americian or Australian style" youth culture.
Language is not a problem as most people speak English except the French and other Europeans in the city. That said, they are very friendly despite any language issues.
The Museum was just amazing, we saw more real history in 2 hours than all the book learning can provide you. Cos was quite at home among the swords, books, rare treasures on display. Both girls learnt heaps, Jacqueline in particular explained that history was very interesting, which put a smile on her father's face. Once Charlotte got over her fear of all things dark or scary looking also got into the history in a way that can only be got by seeing. Napoleon among other famous people walked the streets of Basel. The Museum during Napoleon's time was used to store salt. Napoloen apparently walked the very floors we visited. A buzz for us.
The markets were lot like our weekend markets made weather friendly. Very pretty at night with lights and decorations. We intend to return there today to spend our Francs.
Trams are the only way to travel. Clean and extensive.
After we finished at the museum we went to a toy museum. The girls thought it was awesome. There were special motion activated displays that had dolls and tiny baby dolls riding roller coasters and other old fashion show rides. There were literaly thosands of old fashion dolls and bears displayed in many doll houses and scenes.
