Today we visit Comacchio a small village near Ravenna Italy which is located 150km south of Venice.” Ravenna is known for its unmatched Byzantine mosaics, peaceful streets and layers of Roman, Gothic and Renaissance history.”
We had walking tour through the quaint streets of Comacchio, which like Venice to the north was built on a series of Islands to form canals. Their history is one of sadness as different outsiders controlled the territory. Comacchio Is not tourist attraction apart from its canal system like Venice.
We enjoyed the tour, sampled some local biscuits and coffee before heading on a wine tour 20 minutes further north on a local winery. Wine tasting and meat and cheese board. Magnificent.
About 1pm we headed back to lunch on the ship.
