Hawaii Day 11 end of cruise and back in Honolulu

They say all good things must come to a end. Arrival in Honolulu marked the end of the 7 day cruise. We woke in darkness st 7am because the ship is docked close to the Pier building allowing little light into the cabin. Given we need to have a last breakfast and be gone by 8:30am this makes the darkness a curse for those who rather sleep. A cruel solution was found by turning on the lights. ( Cos felt poorly for the act but had no choice).

At 7:30am Cos and Melissa headed up to Alhoa Cafe one last time (until our next visit). The Cafe was swirling melee of people, bags and food. Table hunting became a priced skill, if one was to eat at a table.  Movement in and out a constant flow so a table freed quickly.

Disembarkment similar to P&O however those who chose to collect bags on the harbour chose a particular coloured tag, according to the time they disembark, yesterday.  First in best dressed apparently as we are just walking off with our bags anytime until 9.15.

Exit off the ship went smoothly. We found a taxi, though it was “a close run thing” as another couple tried to take our taxi. I don’t think it was spiteful because there was people and cars all over the place. A simple mistake. Our taxi was a huge Lincoln town car sedan with a boot larger enough to sleep in! I believe our taxi was an independent because his pricing was much cheaper.

Entry back into the historic surfrider Hotel went smoothly as well. We went for the modern tower (built in the 1960s) with partial ocean views. At 9am we had entry into our room.. bonus!!!  Cheaper but the room is much larger than more expensive but historic wing of the hotel. Our view of the ocean is sufficient given just having 7 sea days. Besides, we have already stayed in one of rich and famous rooms on arrival to Hawaii, 11 days ago.

We are happy. After a brief relax, we head out for morning coffee. Below is ginger bread representation of the Surfrider.

For lunch we went to Cheese Burger 🍔 restaurant. Very nice.

We bought Jacqueline her graduation gift of white gold ring with a pearl mount. Jacqueline was happy. The hard part was keeping it comparable to Charlotte gift back in 2015 which thankfully we were able to achieve.

The rest of the afternoon was spent Christmas and gift shopping for friends, family and workmates. In market stalls located in Duke Lane we got the last of these gifts but it was hard going because the stall owners were reluctant to let you go. Some stall owners where over pushy to sell their wares. Cos was able pushed down the price in almost every purchase. In some cases almost 50% of their ticket price, so one wonders what the cost price really was??? It really pays to haggle at markets.

Before dinner we did a load of washing. Clearly being a five star 🌟 Hotel this is unexpected by the Hotel management as there are just 2 coin driven washing machines for the whole complex.

After dinner we took to the streets to find food, and we found food at the Maui Brewing Co (restaurant). We chose to do taste test of craft beers as part of our meal. Not bad. I know some our friends would enjoy the 40 + brews on offer. Jacqueline enjoyed her usual mock tails while we tasted some of the beers on offer.

Cos liked the Milk chocolate stout best. Melissa liked the Pau Porter and we both liked the Bikini blonde and the Coco Porter.
