Day 6 (Tuesday 12Nov19) Dubrovnik

At 6am our ship glided into the harbour of Dubrovnik. A rare town that still has its ancient 500 year old walls. It promises to be wet but interesting day.

The walls of the old town were impressive especially since they survived modern shell fire during 1991 during the breakup of Yugoslavia.
During our visit, a storm struck while on the walls, the wind gusts were extreme. We both had to grasp anything solid to avoid being blown away. The rain was driven so hard it stung exposed skin. The powerful wind drove us from the walls back down into the city. Once safe inside the old town we sought protection from the rain in Christmas shop. (Lucky us, as we purchased some Croatian theme Christmas decorations.) we found our way next to bakery and sampled some local savoury pastries. Finally, very wet we headed to our bus for 30 minute wait in the rain for our shuttle. shout out to Jacqueline and Anaconda for the great Helly Hansan jacket  toasty warm and dry through very heavy rain on and off all day. The queue was long, and we of course had some queue jumpers complaining most about having to wait.
On return to the ship, we had hot shower and enjoyed some hot food. Despite rain and winds we enjoyed our shore excursion.

Day 5 (11Nov19) travelling the Adriatic Sea.

Today we spent at sea. It gave opportunity to explore the ship, meet people and avoid eating ourselves senseless. ( We tried not to eat too much.)

Day 4 (Sunday 10Nov19) leaving Venice on cruise ship.

Another wonderful morning in beautiful Venice 😊.  A lovely big Italian breakfast and out we went for one quick explore near our hotel. The breakfast staff must thought we needed food, presented us with local biscuits as a gift. We had to cross water with the high tide, wearing stylish plastic bags on our feet.

Beautiful Venice didn’t disappoint. Glorious autumn day, not too cold. After our explore, we checked out and headed to the docks for our Alilaguna (water bus) to the cruise port. After a wait of 40 minutes, (we assume it was late) we headed down the grand canal to the port. We passed some grand palaces of bygone era.

Our arrival at the cruise port and our various check ins and passport checks went quickly and soon we was aboard the Norwegian Star all up taking about 1 hour and a half.

Not in our statesroom yet enjoying our first meal.  Wait staff and crew we have encounter have been extremely friendly and helpful.

Seems like a nicer ship than our previous NCL. It is more stylish and adult than “Pride of America”.

Our stateroom is pleasant but the balcony is large and private.

Just had our safety drill, some passengers are just rude. The poor crew spent some time waiting for passengers to stop talking and playing with their mobiles. We go there eventually but not before some passengers left in a huff. Rude sods!

After celebrating with a wine in one of the Irish bars, we returned to our stateroom to drink cocktails (long island tea and  Dark and Stormy) on our balcony as the ship left port at 6:30pm.
